WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 25, 2010 – The North American Millers' Association (NAMA) elected Paul Maass, President, Commercial Foods, ConAgra Foods Chairman of NAMA for the 2010 - 2012 term. The announcement was made at the annual Board of Directors meeting held October 15 in Del Mar, California.

Maass has been on the Board since 2004. He served as the Vice Chairman for the 2008 - 2010 term and previously served as Chair of the Finance/Budget Committee and Food Safety Committee.

"This is an important time in NAMA's history. Over the last two years our organization has successfully adapted to internal and external changes. We are strongly positioned to address new challenges and initiate new efforts," stated Maass.

At the same meeting, Greg Schlafer, Vice President & General Manager, Bakery, Restaurant, and Milling, General Mills, Inc., was elected Vice Chairman. The following directors were elected to a three-year term on the Executive Committee:

This was the first Annual Meeting for NAMA President, Mary Waters, who joined NAMA in April. Waters added: “NAMA’s Washington team brings strong leadership to address grain industry issues. We will continue to work with our partners in the grain value chain to educate and advocate on behalf of dry grain millers. We will focus on a good offense in addition to a good defense in advancing the goals of the industry.”

NAMA is the trade association representing 43 companies that operate 170 wheat, oat and corn mills in 38 states and Canada. Their collective production capacity exceeds 175 million pounds of product each day, more than 95 percent of the total industry production.
