The milling industry, through innovation and modernization, is constantly evolving. Today’s mills are spotless manufacturing plants where highly-specialized equipment using the latest technology creates a wide variety of flours and by-products that play integral roles in bringing healthy, nutritious, and tasty grain products to consumers all over the world.

NAMA plays a vital role in delivering nutrition to American consumers, as well as providing nutritious grain-based products to help feed those around the world. Foods made from the flour, meal and oats milled by NAMA members are important components of a healthy diet. Complex carbohydrates in grain-based foods provide essential fuel for the body while both whole and enriched grains are good sources of key nutrients, vitamins and fiber which can help prevent disease.

NAMA works side-by-side with several organizations that provide important information to consumers about the nutritious value of grain-based products and food safety:

Grain Foods Foundation – provides information about the beneficial role of grain-based foods in a healthy diet.

Wheat Foods Council – provides nutritional, educational and promotional materials about wheat-based foods.

Home Baking Association – encourages home baking by providing recipes, activities, lesson plans and other valuable resources to help you at home in your kitchen or in the classroom.

Partnership for Food Safety Education – provides educators with tools they can use to educate people about protecting their health through safe food handling and hygiene.
