Flour Milling Report

In February 2011, the Commerce Department announced plans to end the Census Bureau’s program that has provided flour production data to growers, millers and bakers since 1926. It is the only report of its kind in the flour milling industry and is printed every quarter in Milling & Baking News. The production contained in the report are used to benchmark the success of product promotion efforts.

NAMA developed a plan to maintain the uninterrupted collection of flour production data and retained an outside firm to continue to survey milling companies on their flour production. Production and capacity information was provided to trade publications and USDA

On December 12, 2011 NAMA released the third quarter flour production number of 100,561 (1,000 cwt). This report covered the months of July, August, and September and as stated, represents 94.5 percent of production.

On February 23, 2012 NAMA released the fourth quarter flour production number of 101,122 (1,000 cwt). This report covered the months of October, November, and December and as stated, represents 94.5% of production.
