Trade Promotion Authority
As part of the USTrade Coalition, NAMA commends the President on his 2001 International Trade Legislative Agenda which moved the U.S. in the direction of reasserting U.S. leadership in opening markets around the world. NAMA supports Trade Promotion Authority that is central to that agenda. TPA empowers U.S. officials to quickly negotiate trade agreements to knock down foreign trade barriers. Congress has the opportunity to vote on these agreements but is not able to amend them.
