MCCARTHY ATTENDS SPRING MEETING OF K-STATE DEPARTMENT OF GRAIN SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
NAMA President & CEO Jim McCarthy visited Kansas State University (K-State) this week to participate in the spring meeting of the Department of Grain Science and Industry’s Advisory Committee. The Committee heard a number of presentations, including a presentation given by the University’s Dean of Agriculture, Dr. John Floros. A number of topics were discussed during the advisory committee meeting, including a discussion on the process of selecting a new department chairman. In accordance with his meeting at K-State, McCarthy also met with IAOM President Melinda Farris and representatives of Sosland Publishing Company.

NISSHIN AQUIRING FOUR CONAGRA/HORIZON FLOUR MILLS

In an announcement expected to result in the creation of two major flour milling companies, Miller Milling Co., the U.S. subsidiary of Nisshin Flour Milling Inc., has reached an agreement to acquire four U.S. flour mills. Included in the asset purchase agreement are the Los Angeles flour mill of Horizon Milling L.L.C. and the Oakland Calif.; Saginaw, Texas; and New Prague, Minn., mills of ConAgra Mills.
