Wheat Soy Blend (WSB)

Suggested Recipes :

Beverage (for children 6 months to 2 years)
1 volume Wheat Soy Blend (WSB)
10 volumes water
Heat while stirring until mixture just begins to boil. It will be smooth and, after cooling, can be fed by spoon or bottle. No flavoring is really needed for this age group but sugar to mother’s taste may be added if desired. More water may also be added if desired.

1 volume WSB
4-8 volumes water depending on desired consistency
Heat while stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and serve. Sugar and flavoring may be added according to local tastes.

1 volume WSB
3-4 volumes water
1 volume sugar

Combine all ingredients. Mix well and cook until smooth. Serve hot or cold.

Bakery Products
Incorporate from 10 to 50% WSB of the flour portion of the baking formula. Can be used in pan bread, rolls, biscuits, and cookies to suit local conditions.

1 egg
1/3 cup oil or shortening
1/4 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup WSB
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar

Beat egg and sugar until fluffy. Sift together flour, WSB, salt and baking powder. Add flour mixture to egg mixture, alternating with oil and milk. Mix to make a smooth dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Pat out to 1/4 -inch thickness and cut with either a cracker cutter or a floured knife and bake for 15 minutes. Cook and keep in airtight container.

Meat Extender
WSB can be used as a meat extender. Simply add 1 volume WSB to 4 volumes ground meat. The meat is extended without any appreciable loss in nutritive value.
