NAMA Instructor of Milling at K-State

Under the leadership of NAMA’s Milling Science and Operations Committee, the NAMA-funded Instructor of Milling in the Milling Science and Management program in the Grain Science and Industry Department at Kansas State University was created. Fran is a K-State graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Milling Science and Management – Operations. She has more than 20 years experience in the milling industry.  Her experience includes plant management, process improvement, production optimization, safety program development, sanitation improvement, technical milling, and most recently, teaching. She has worked at mills operated by ConAgra Mills, General Mills, C.H. Guenther & Son, and The Mennel Milling Company.

Since Fran took the post in January 2012, NAMA members have had the opportunity to meet with Fran and discuss the Milling Science and Management program. Members of the Milling Science & Operations Committee visited K-State in April 2012 and met with Fran and Dr. Dirk Maier, the department head and in March 2012 Fran attended the NAMA Technical meeting to share her initial thoughts about the program and to receive input from NAMA members.
